Roe ruling brings healthcare questions
Updated 3 hours ago
Legal questions abound for companies whose healthcare policies include abortion provision in states where the procedure is now illegal. Numerous companies, including Microsoft (LinkedIn's parent company), Tesla, Starbucks and Amazon, have pledged to continue providing their employees with abortion coverage but the legal ground is shaky. Many states that have banned abortion also consider it illegal to aid abortion access (for example providing travel expenses for out-of-state care). One economist specializing in healthcare told Axios there were questions over whether continuation of these policies would be considered criminal.
- President Joe Biden said he would back the Senate suspending its filibuster rule (which requires a 60-vote majority to pass legislation) in order to codify Roe v. Wade in law, giving women the legal right to an abortion.
