I don't know which state are you in. But, a lot of states require an estimate for car repair.
Regardless, I think the proper thing for you to do is to write a letter to the bodyshop, saying something like this.
"Acting upon the advice of my insurance company which believes you have not followed the proper business procedure in transacting service and seeking payment, I now withdraw authorization from you to do any repair on my car. Should you have any question, please contact my insurance agent (give information).
Thank you."
And, send a copy of the authorization form along with your letter as well.
Send this letter and see what happens.
