The attorney provided by the insurance company to represent you technically should be working for your best interest. But, I know in reality it is often not true.

It is still too early to hire your attorney now. Just keep a close watch on your current attorney and his work. Ask him about how is he going to handle the case, getting regular updates on his progress.

This is just human nature. If you show interest and pay attention to his work, he is more likely to take you seriously. Moreover, it permits early detection of any improper behavior of your attorney (regardless if he is provided by the insurance company or not).

In a case like this, I am willing to speculate that the final settlement will be an amount within your insurance coverage.
