Since it is a criminal charge, you are not the plaintiff but an essential witness (I assume you are the victim of the crime). Only the State has the authority to file criminal charges against a defendant. Therefore, your credibility will be critical as to the outcome of this case, especially if you don't have other evidence in addition to your testimony. This may be the main reason that the police officer asked you to do the test. You certainly can reject the request. But in the trial, if the defendant raises concerns on your credibility, the Judge may ask you to do the test upon the dependant's request.
