I don't know why your bank closed your account. If you paid anything in value in exchange for the check, you are a victim of this scam. Just read your agreement with the bank with regard to openning, use, and closing of the account, see on what condition the bank may close your account unilaterally. It would be naive to argue that the bank cannot reverse the payment where a fraud was uncovered.
