If you call 911, he will be arrested. You may ask for a restraining order and automatically get the temporary child custody, and very possible a permanent sole physical custody.

You need to make sure you do want a divorce. If he get convicted, it is criminal charge. There is risk to be deported if green card. Make sure he does understand the effect of abuse and you do want to get out.

Divorce is a sad thing. Child is the victim. Attorney fee also cost a lot.
