想了好久,把時間都想起來了。
On Jan 19, after I posted the original review, the owner of Top Prep Academy Michelle called me and text me crazily, threatening me by saying "my sister owns one of the biggest law firm in the united states, and I will sue you, blablabla", I did not pay attention, this morning I found an email from a lawyer representing Top Prep Academy saying I was deframing Top Prep Academy, so I had a look at my original posts and revised as follows:
I sent my nephew to Top Prep Academy on Jan 08 for 1 to 1 AP calculus tutoring, and we paid $2000 for 20 hours. The tutoring started on Jan 8 and ends on Jan 21.
The tutor is not a full time teacher, he may know the subject but he did not prepare sufficiently because sometimes he did not know what he was talking about and had to start the deduction again. Also, one time during the tutoring, he just sat there playing his phone and let my nephew solving the problem by himself for half an hour. Why would we pay $100/hour for baby sitting?
The teacher was not punctual. He was about 10min late SEVERAL times and the owner Michelle did not do anything until I requested that the teacher should make up the time for my nephew, and they finally added 10min at the last session.
At Top Prep Academy, we "parents" only talk to Michelle, not to the teacher directly. I have been there many times during the two weeks, so I got to know Michelle and this place a little bit.
There is a 10-year old boy named Benny who attends the after school at Top Prep, only his parents bring snacks and store them at Top Prep. On Jan 15 (Tuesday) Benny's father brought a new blue box of 1.89L milk to Top Prep Academy. On Jan 17 Michelle asked her assistant to pour a cup of milk for Benny, and said something like “there are two boxes of milk in the fridge, check the expiration date, if it is not passed it is okay, if it is passed discard it. ”
Michelle gives the same amount of milk to Benny everyday. Now let’s do the math, 1.89L lasts about 9 days, plus 2 days (they do not have after school class on weekends) is 11 days. Why there were two boxes of milk? Does Michelle care? You have your conclusion.
Also the fridge was really smelly, Michelle never put her own food there. But I guess Michelle has cleaned it after I said that in the original post.
One last thing, Top Prep Academy had an SAT mock test on Jan 5th, and I happened to see the results on Jan 8. There were about 30 students from SAT class/intensive class taking the tests and this was the 3rd or 4th mock test they have taken since last August(if I remember correctly). I saw all the 3/4 test results, most of them got the same score as they did last 2/3 times, and there were students did worse than last times.
So do I recommend this place to kids of any age? Big No!
