Because you agreed to lend your car to your friend, you consented at law to his acts in connection with the use of the car. It was foreseeable that your friend negligently caused the accident and fled the scene. You are equally liable. But if you have paid the damage, you may ask him to indemnify you. If you have auto insurance, leave the whole case with the insurance company.
