Where do you get the info that J-2 should not pay social security? Curious.
Anyway, pay that is not a bad thing. Because you can only claim social security if you got 40 point s(work for 10 years). Supposed you use J-2 to work for 4 years, then got waiver and use H-1B work for 6 years. Even you failed to get your green card, you can still claim social security any where in the world. But if you didn't pay when you use J-2, you are not able to claim it even you have to pay it for 6 years using H-1B. Just my opinion. If you can get green card, all bets are off. So it is your call.
