If you are still on OPT, sure, you can work for the employer. Otherwise, you are not allowed to work until your EMPLOYER'S H1 PETITION IS GRANTED. How to get an H1? Check with your employer or an immigration attorney. You may also DIY but you need your boss' cooperation.
