Since you are on H1, you do not really need AP to reenter. The trouble is you have to go through the consulate processing to get H1 visa. You need to bring your H1 petition package, H1 approval notice, and the pay stubs for the most recent two weeks. If you have a true H1 position, I do not see a big risk invovled. But prepare for the backgroud check which might be lengthy and frustrating. I guess, you may reveal that your 485 is pending, and the consulate cannot deny you based on that, because the immigration law permits H1 holder to have immigrant intent. No idea how to schedule the appointment. You need to check the consulte website. Regarding I-94, it is a minor issue. Even if some problem arises later on, you can always give a reasonable explanation.
