At the time I bought my car, my FICO Score is > 750. However, dealer told me they couldn't offer me good APR as I've never had car loan before. I'm not sure if he told me the real reason. My impression is FICO Score alone doesn't guarantee good car loan rate.
For mortagage, I heared that with FICO Score > 720 plus a stable job, you probably will get good rate.
BTW, I got my FICO Score from my credit card company web site free of charge.
