To those who didn't read my story before - I have a $700 bill that was sent to the debt collection agency by Camino Medical Group. I believe that it is Camino Medical Group's mistake which caused the delay of claiming to my insurance company. (the insurance is very likely going to deny the claim as it is over 1 year old.) Thus, I don't want to pay the medical bill.
The Camino Medical Group asked the Debt Collection Agency not to bill my insurance even after I provided my insurance info. to them. Yesterday, I got the 2nd letter from the Debt Collection Agency saying that they have reported this to the credit B. and they added $100 financil charge to my bill.
My question is - shall I pay the Debt Collection Agency first to avoid the financial charge? or shall I leave it be till I try to work it with the insurance company. If insurance indeed won't pay for it because it is over one year old, I plan to report Camino Medical Group for unfair biz practice and may take it to a small claim court. But that takes time. I am afraid that if this is not solved, the bill will accumulate to a huge #.
Again, what would you suggest me to deal with Debt Collectioin Agency and the bill for now?
