I just mentioned one possible issue that might arise if you married in China but want to dissolve the marriage in the US. Even if you do certified mail or publication, but the court in China does not recognize the delivery of the notice (summons), technically, the defendant (hu*****and) can always go back and challenge the validity of the judgment after the US court, whatever state, has decree a divorce based on hu*****and's default (non-appearance), because the summons was not served and the US did not obtain personal jurisdiction over him. Additionally, hu*****and may also sue for divorce or any other matrimonial relief in a Chinese court after the US court divorce judgment. It is all hypothetical.
