Find the real owner

of the property. If the couple rent from the real owner, I would
guess they might violate their lease agreement to rent part of
the property to you. The real owner may enforce that lease and
kick the couple and you out, which is what you really want anyway.
Furthermore, if the couple violate their lease, your lease may
have no legal standing, i.e. invalid.
