To qualify as work injury, the activity has to be within the scope of the employment, e.g. under control of the employer. Your commute is not under control of your employer, because:

(1) you are not driving a work vehicle,
(2) the employer does not tell you which route to travel, and/or
(3) the employer does not require where you live.

Game over.
