You might have a case, in some states, if the school mistakenly told you your daughter had died in school (i.e. "is the product of some misconduct universally recognized as causing emotional distress"). But merely telling you your daughter missed school, does not rise to N.I.E.D., therefore no legal case.
I suggest you do something constructive, such as get involved with improving the accuracy of school attendance system. Although it is temping, it would be illogical for you to start to drive your girl to school as a result, since she was never in any danger. The problem was with computer, not her real life safety.
Other parent might just think their girl skipped school, I guess your daughter was such a good student it is unimaginable for you to think that.
