My understanding is:
Trough marrying an Ameican citizen one can get temporary green card. 3 monthes before the second aniversary they need to go back to INS filing remove the "conditional"(not on the aniverary day, that would be TOO LATE!) 3 years from the person first get GC he/she can file to become a citizen. While a GC from employer need wait 5 years to apply for citizen.
