家庭電腦給國內朋友的網站做服務器（轉換器）是否合法？

國內朋友做了個賭馬賭狗的網站，想用我們家的電腦做個服務器，但我們一直擔心不合法，谘詢幾個律師都說不做這個，也沒有結果。他們說在科羅拉多注冊並交稅的，而我們住在加州。讓他們去租服務器，他們又執意求我們在家裏做，弄得很頭痛又沒頭緒。有沒有朋友知道這個到底合不合法或給些意見？
