父母醫療賬單不付會有什麽後果？

去年老媽來時去看了一次專科醫生。當時有旅行保險，付了copay。
後來保險公司因為以pre-existing condition 為由一分錢也不出。收到醫生賬單。我回信說已在和保險公司appeal.
後來既未收到保險公司回複，也未收到醫生賬單。很可能是公寓不給送老媽的信，給退回去了。
估計保險公司是不會付的。
現在我要主動給醫生付賬嗎？500刀。如果不付會有什麽後果？
我已經幫媽辦了綠卡。看病的時候還是探親簽證。
