This IS work injury in US

If this happened in US, it is a work injury. But, even if your friend won in court, It is tricky to enforce the verdict unpon a Chinese company. If the Chinese company has large enough assets in US, your friend should quickly hire a lawyer. It is a piece of cake to cliam work injury compensation in such a case.
