Report them to the Department of Labour for not paying you. As a lawful employer, they should not only pay you, but also pay social security tax and other required tax for you. If they didn't do this, they are in bigger trouble than you are. They have to pay you and pay a big fine to the Department of Labour.
Don't be afraid. The worst you can get is never visit US. The worst they can get is about the same and probably lose their jobs for violating laws.
Under H-1, they are in no better shape than you if Department of Labour get them. They will risk their H-1 and their jobs.
Of course, your trouble is with immigration. However, the Department of Labour may or may not report your case to immigration.
