the loan is not from Chinese bank. actually someone can borrow from US bank, for example an equity loan, then use the proceed to buy real estate in China or elesewhere. equity loan interest can be deducted as itemized deduction under certain conditions: up to $100K loan, and AGI<$139K (otherwise start to face out the deduction).
