我是擔心樓下講的那樣的後果，所以想全麵了解，是不是用聯合稅單擔保就要兩人同時在I864簽字，否則無效？？
-One person's signature is enough. But I don't see very serous 後果 in this I-864 issue because I think the immigrant/beneficial probably will not actually ask you to pay him/her living fee. Otherwise, you can go to the court and he/she will be in big trouble.
As for the relative may do the same way in other issues in the future, this is another story and you may ask your spouse to talk to the relative and give him some kind of warning. I believe this relative will not do it again unless he/she is not a good person. If he/she will do illegal thing in the future using your spouse's name in the future, you may go to the court at that time.
Anyway, we Chinese dealing with this kind of things is different from the American. We do not want to break down the relationship between relatives or friends. Going to the court is not a good choicer soemtimes unless it is necessary and you have no choice.
