我需要請自己的律師嗎？

About 5 years ago, I involved into a light traffic accident. I hit the bumper of the car ahead of me. I gave the other side the info of my insurance and thougt everything would be taken care of.

Recently, the insurance company of the other car sued me for that accident and ask for $1,400 pay back. Until then I realized that the case never be resolved.

I contact my insurance company at that time, they said the other side never replied their letter so the case was not resolved. They will hire a lawyer to defend me regarding this.

The amount is not much, but do you think I should hire my own lawyer? Will the lawyer hired by the insurance company think the company interest first, if there's conflict?
