If you have stop sign, and they do not, it is kind of your fault

Even you can prove that they speed, you probably will be at fault to certain extent anyway; not to mention you braked when you should not.  I think you should let the other party go at the first place.  Now as you exchange insurance info already, you probably have to call your insurance company, in case they made up stories.
