I have undergone orthodontic treatment for longer than normally 2-3 years, but it’s still not done, I still have biting problem, my upper and lower teeth do not close/bite very well, which not only affect my chewing/eating, but also affect my speaking, causing unclear pronunciation.
The doctor wants me to take off the braces, stating that otherwise my teeth’s periodontal problem will be getting worse, and my teeth may loosen up (some already get loosen due to extended treatment) and I could ultimately lose them. But taking off braces without completely done, or keep the treatment with increasing risks of periodontal problem, either one is not good option. Basically the treatment is a failure.
The orthodontic treatment was expensive, and one would expect good results. Do I have the right to ask the doctor for refund? Due to my treatment not being done per standard, as I originally expected, when I signed up for the treatment? I think the doctor did not have good professionalism at all to care for the patient, she is not careful in examining each time, even if my appointment to see her is only once a month. I had to go back and forth on some treatments – some braces and rubber bands are pulled back or forth in each appointment, basically trial and error, wasting lots of time for timely treatment, prolonging my treatment unnecessarily.
I figured I have to get the doctor accountable, get her responsible for my failed treatment results. Any expert opinions on any options I have to protect my rights? Thanks.
