請教各位layoff以後是否有義務替原雇主工作？

老公前兩個個月被layoff了（整個部門關了）8月15日是最後一天，但現在原公司又有些東西要他幫忙做，原來他也基本答應了，可後來發現他們在工作要求上撒了謊。就不想和他們糾纏了。可現在他們說你拿了解雇補償金就必須替他工作。我的理解8月15日以後他和原公司就沒有關係了。也沒義務替他們工作了不知我的理解對不對?先謝了。
