Please read this story carefully and make sure you don't commit the same mistakes as I did. If you think I am a fool and I deserve the consequences, I would like to hear the options from you. Pleases notice my English is not as fluently as most of you,ashame on me. However try your best to apprehend my story, and I assume you should understand my points.
This happened when I was in Shanghai, and this is the most painful misadventure I every had. I am a student of University of Toronto ,and my university had a exchange program agreement with JiongTong university in Shanghai. Unlike most of Chinese students, I did unsuccessfully in my university courses,and I really desire to escape from this stressful environment. So I went JiaoTong university as an international exchange student. Of course, I enjoyed all the special facilities that university offered me,such as single room resident and flexible class schedule. I earned well respects from my peers and had many of friends. Although I am not a financial affluent person, I still consider myself as a "rich" boy when compare to the native students. Some good looking girls showed their interests on me, but I found those girls are somehow unfaithful and attempting to trick me.Thanks to God, I was still conscious and be able to defeat those attractive girls at that time. However I fall into a invisible and deep trap few month later.
I met this young Shanghai lady in cafeteria one afternoon, and I suddenly fall into love with her. This may sounds very fantastic, but I was REALLY impressed by her charming smiles. After that I asked her to be my girlfriend, and she agreed. I feel myself is the luckiest man at that moment.I did not realize this is the beginning of the tragedy.
The first few weeks, she did not request me to buy anything However, as a man, I felt it is my obligation to buy things like perfumes and cloth for her.So I did. Few thousands dollar will not bother me too much,and she seems fulfilled. Surprisingly, she asked me to borrow her $20000 one day. The reason is that Chinese government require her family to move to other place. Even the government offer her a new apartment,they ask for extra money. Her family wish to buy the new building because it is relatively cheaper than the market price
However,her father would not be able to afford her tuition fees because he used up all his saves. She was sobbing and say she doesn't want give her family any pressures. I was in deep love with her at that time, so I lent her $20000.I assume this is enough for her two years tuition fees.Even $20000 is not a small number for me, I still give it to her without hesitation.
One day, I called her and hear a male's voice from the phone. I asked her who he was, she replied me that is one of her friend. I did not suspect anything,because she is always a innocent girl in my eye. But horrible things happened afterward, I overheard her and her best friend's conversation,and she frequently mentioned a strange boy's name. I begin to suspect a little,but I suddenly reject my suspicion. How can she cheat on me, that is impossible.However, more evidences showed that she and that boy have something that already beyond the friendship. I questioned her seriously one night, and she admitted that her boyfriend.They had relationship since high school, but that boy did not get into university, so he joined army force. Now, he returned but could not find a job.She told me that the money I gave to her is actually for that boy.He decide to buy a car and become a taxi driver. She said she is sincerely apologize that she hide this secret for a long period of time.and she told me that she really love that man. I feel frustrated but I still asked her which one she want choose:" A man who has Canadian citizenship and in one of the top university of the world, or a man is not educated and without a real job.Her answer is that man. She said she never loved me, but thanks all the aids I gave to her, she promised to pay back my money. I told her that I don't need my money or any gifts back, I am responsible for my foolish decision. All I lost is a sincere love which she can never be able to pay back.
