If my memories serve me right, employment expenses

are deductible, if not reimbursed by employer, and the arrangement is meant to be temporary (not to exceed one year?). To my recollection, even temporary living expenses are deductible (rent that enables the taxpayer to take the job away from home), so be sure to consult a CPA or check the IRS website. Some tax software may also be able to guide you through what's deductible.

I some times visit this board and truly admire how 版主 and others help the people who post here. Times are tough and taxes are high, hope 樓主 and others in similar situation can take full advantage of IRS's provisions and get the deductions you're entitled to.
