It depends..

I withdraw one year from my university to have a baby, I still buy student insurance. But the insurance company send me a letter to ask me proof. I just went to the International Student Office, they write a letter which stated that I am still a student. Everything is fine after I send this letter. My insurance company did pay all my bills. So I would like to say it depends on the insurance company, maybe a little bit of your university's International Student Office. Good Luck!
