這首歌誕生於60年代，初始是一首folk song或者民謠搖滾的經典，整曲的情緒優美而較平穩；後經重金屬搖滾樂隊Disturbed的翻唱後，此曲成為價值連城的“翻唱暨再創作”的典範。其主唱大衛·德萊曼（David Draiman）以其強勁而刺耳的嗓音而聞名，在《寂靜之聲》的主歌部分，他采用了非常細膩精致的表達，然後層層遞進，在副歌爆發。編曲中，鋼琴的柔和音符、原聲吉他的哭泣聲，和輕微的鼓聲，沉浸在詩句般的歌詞中，慢慢豐滿，，漸漸成就。今天我學唱的Dana Winner的女聲版，其實也是翻唱了Disturbed的版本，主歌的building up和編曲的遞進，比較明顯。這首歌全民one take，沒有間奏的歌，一氣嗬成，我也是唱了一個過癮:))
