I am 5'4" and my weight was 100-105 lb pre-pregnancy.  When I checked in hospital for delivery, I weighed 169lb. Yes, I gained over 50% of my original weight :-(.  Within 6 mo., my weight got back to 110 lb.  I guess it depends on individuals, and my OB back then never warned me to keep control of my weight which made me think it was OK.
