Well, keeping social with the colleagues is helpful

for the future career. We are social animals, aren't we?

I hate myself being unable to choose the wine when have lunch/dinner with my colleagues. I still recalled when I first had dinner with them. The fish was ordered as the main meal so the white wine is supposed to be ordered to match fish. You guess what I did? I ordered the red wine!!!!

So embarrassed... Japan is much better - you just keep drinking beer or Sake, get drunk and then sing karaoke - no one cares how well you know about beer and singing...
