資產和車保險，請教老貓

聽人說，有一定資產的人買車保險最好買到和資產相當的額度。
也就是說，你有淨值資產50萬，車保險要買到50萬（如50萬Bodily Injury Coverage).這樣就保護了你的財產。

但我很不明白它的道理。

假如，對方索賠100萬，若贏了，不是正好保險公司出50萬，自己資產50萬，賠得一文不剩嗎？怎麽談上保護財產呢？

真不懂！

是不是，資產隻有50萬，對方不可以索賠超過資產的額度？ 法律有這條嗎？還是慣例呢？

我講的隻是假設，隻考慮保護財產，不考慮其他。
