Can I get Greencard stamp?

I received the I-485 approval letter stating:

On June 23, 2005, after approving your application, we ordered you a new card. Your card will be mailed to you as soon as it is ready.

It doesn't ask me to get the stamp. However, I plan to go back to china within 3 weeks and can I make appointment to get stamp although I was not asked to do so.
