I am a tenure-track assitant professor who filed NIW last July to TSC. I believe my case is strong enough (phd from top 3 us program; one international award for dissertation; rank 15th for currently-working program; etc.) This march I got a RFE and are still waiting for responses. NIW is very subjective. For the same case, it can be a different result from a different officer.
So if you have other choice you need to go for it. Or you can have NIW as your backup plan.
