It is up to you. If you have no moeny problem, you can hire one. If you do not want to pay lawyer, you can do it by yourself if you can get a NIW package. A good lawyer could help you to polish the begining and ending of your letters and compose the cover/petition letter based on your recommendation letters and your CV. That is it.
