I went to our Local INS today, actually, my notice is dated in a week later, and my wife's is three weeks later. The officer did not really mind we came weeks earlier and had us two finger prints taken and one digital image. around 10min. Seems the schedule is pretty flexible. People don't have to follow exactly the date on the notice if they could not make it.
