My case is relatively week according to what I saw in this forum previously.

Ph.D. Chemistry, just became a postdoc when applied
7 pub (4 Eng 3 Chi) about 20-30 citations.
7 recommendation letters (3 from universities, 2 from NIH and 2 from companies)

I spent a lot of time (more than 6 months) on recommendation letters. I waited about 4 months to get recommendation letter from a really famous person (even he just wrote me a one page letter). Besides, I thought my lawyer did a terrific job.
