If you surrendered your I94 when you left US, and try to find someone in US to apply for AP for you, USCIS will deny your AP since the record shows that you have departed US when the application is filed. Even USCIS approves your AP, you may be denied to enter US at the port of entry for the same reason.
If you can stay outside US, file I824 for a consular processing and get your immigration visa in Guangzhou.
Otherwise, apply for H, L, K, V visas to enter US and keep your I485 (or refile your I485 if you have lost your nonimmigration status).
