read carefully about using a lawyer,

if u use a lawyer, u lose the right to contact to Canadian consulate. And so bad lawyer may control your immigration process.

I do it myself, apply March, 2004, get first letter on MArch ,2004, get 2nd letter(ask for medical exam and submit update documents) on Nov. 2004. Third letter is on Apr. 2004, I've submitted my passport.

So it will cost around 1 year to do it youself. No necessary to ask for a lawyer.
