How do you know they made a mistake? if your opt end in July ,you may have 60 days grace period .if you send out your H1-b application for 2006 cap(in case ,they do made a mistake ,there are no more 20000 cap)before your opt get expired ,you can stay in Usa legally after your opt expired ,but you can not work untill your application get approved and after oct 1st. you can talk to your company,you can work as a volunteer during this period,so the company will not get upset.
