This is the origianl email from my company:

The U.S. State Department recently confirmed that Canadian permanent residents who are in the U.S. and who return to Canada will require a visa stamp in their passport before entering the U.S. This rule also applies to Canadian permanent residents who are returning under the 30-day rule if they did not previously obtain a visa stamp.

In the past, certain Canadian permanent residents did not require passports and visas when entering the US. These individuals were Canadian permanent residents who:
-- have a common nationality with Canadians
-- are British subjects in Bermuda (and aliens who have a common nationality with such subjects)
-- are citizens of Commonwealth countries
-- are citizens of Ireland

New regulations remove this benefit and require these aliens to present a valid passport and a visa when entering the U.S. Countries that previously did not require a passports and visa stamp when entering the U.S. now require a valid passport and visa stamp to enter the U.S.

Also immediately effective, Canadian permanent residents in the U.S. who have not previously obtained a nonimmigrant visa stamp and who have returned to Canada may no longer return to the U.S. under the 30-day rule without previously having obtained a visa stamp.

Note that the new ruling does not impact Canadian citizens because they are designated as exempt from visa stamp requirements. As with all travel, please contact your immigration attorney before making any travel plans.
