If both parents with non-immigrant visa in US, the child will get travel document for returning with a US passport.A regular chinese doesn't have passport. Staying in China doesn't require a passport either. You can get a "Hu Kou?" afterwards and apply for Chinese passport in China when needed. I don't heard the Chines embassy in US can issue a Chinese passport for a child. But make sure if you will give up the right for your child to get a US passport.
