1.Name Check is synonymous with FBI Background Check, Security Check etc. Even though FBI NNCP Dept.'goal is to get name check cleared with 120 days,this could take longer time than that and we've seen many people report incredible lengths of delays with name checks,i'm one of them actually.
Name check requests are automatically initiated by the Service Center and are done for all applicants. There is another check called the CIA check that is not done for Naturalization applicants. CIA check is done for I-485, Amnesty and other applicants.
