If you use EAD with F1(include OPT), you will lose your non-immigration status and become adjust of status(I485 pending) immdiately. In such situation you can't apply H1 inside US later, and also if your I485 get denied you have to leave US. So if your hu*****and's I140 haven't got approved, you had better transfer to H4 from F1 first, then keep H4 when you use EAD, thus you may still apply H1 later in US.
