Generally you can get back with your valid I-94 (better have H-1B status approval notice if your status was not originally H-1B). I used my valid I-94 and passport back to US last year. But you'd better have AP ready just in case. You can also go to US Consulate for new H-1B stamp. If rejected, use AP to get back.
