Waiting for background check .

Can somebody tell me what should I do since I have been waiting for background check approval for 2+ years. I checked with USCIS office in San Jose several times and they said that still waiting for FBI's approval. Looks like my case is dead, no progress at all. It has been 3 years since I-485 application form submition.
