I went to Shanghai and got married in early Oct. We tried to schedule visa appt since early Sept and could never get thru. Finally we were scheduled for 11/12. But since I only had 3 weeks of vacation and couldn't stay until 11/12. My wife had to go by herself. The VO didn't look the documents in detail and just gave her a paper stating that I need to accompany her for visa interview
I am currently holding H-1 visa and it will expire 1/1/2004. Could the consulate be cautious because my visa will expire in about 45 days?
